When attention was given to the Imperial Circle again, a bunch of my other characters applied. Only one was accepted.

This is Andy "Ghost" Stonefire. He's been here before.

I am working on my coloring some more here. There is so much wonderful work out there with color I admire and I am attempting to learn from it. These little portraits are a good place to try out new techniques.

Some info on Andy:

6'1"

Native American (Plains Tribes)

Has the power to kill anything and everything. It may take him a minute or two ... but he can kill it. It's whispered in some circles that he IS death.

Believes that everything is a weapon and has killed a demon with salad tongs.

Is married to a woman who was adopted by Anubis. [link]

Was a gladiator in the Etherial Arena for a few hundred years.

Is a paramedic because he thinks insides need to stay on the inside.

Can fix most vehicles if given a moment to study them.

Has a peanut butter colored mutt dog named Piston.

Rides a motorcycle whenever he can.

Knows the traditional native dances of his tribe.

Is very quiet and reserved. He does not smoke (except for ceremonial purposes) and does not drink.

He prides himself on being a modern man who is still respectful of his people's traditions. (He earned those two feathers!)

He has a subtle sense of humor and prefers to have one or two good friends rather than a ton of friends he doesn't know as well.

Would rather show what is on his mind than say it.

Hates peas.

brushes created by green-eyed-butterfly [link] who must be a genius at it!

As I'm reading the description, my first thought is, "aw damn, he's married."

Only after that did I think, "Aw damn, he's a fictional character."

REALITY WHAT IS REALITY. D:

Anyways, I really like your style!

As I sit and stare at this picture I find myself wondering... How did he use those salad tongs?

He was in a restaurant kitchen when he was attacked, so he grabbed the first thing he could get his hands on, put it through the demon's chest, closed on the thing's heart and ripped it out. It was over in a few seconds, everyone was staring at him and he just shrugged like: "What?" In all fairness, it wouldn't have worked if Andy didn't have the talent to be able to kill "almost" everything.

Thanks for the faves!!

His cheekbones are wonderful. So is his skeptical stare. And his long sleek hair. He is generally magnificent, and it's excellent to see some Native American characters floating around. The more I see of your brain-world the more I like it.

Thanks very much! That's, quite possibly, the best compliment I have received in days!

I have a special place in my heart for Andy. He's even been approved by a Native American tribal elder, who said she thought he was great. It was pretty awesome!

I have to say, I think he's probably my favourite so far. There's something about him that I just feel instantly fond of and attracted to (in a platonic way, I mean). The Imperial Circle really are awesome guys!

Thank you!

An interesting story about Andy is that he was a written character for a long time before I put him in a picture. And I was writing that piece under the watchful, inspiring and helpful eye of a teacher of mine who is a pure blood Ojibwa (a tribe native to my area of the USA). I gave her the first chapter to read and the note she sent back said that Andy, in the way he was written, was a "model for the Native American people. He is the kind of man any tribe would be proud to have." I have never been so moved by anything anyone ever said about a character of mine. I have tried to keep that in mind as Andy has grown and in every picture of him I draw. I guess he is my way of showing how much respect and love I have for the people.

I love the Imperial Circle. This is the second incarnation of it, though. Jed, Jessie and Darren aren't around. But the new guys (Andy being one of them) are just as fun.

... blahblahblah ...

Thanks for the fave!

I can imagine how incredible it must have felt to get a comment like that, yes! I find that really interesting, though, and I really think that characters can benefit a lot by being written about before they're drawn. Writing forces a personality out that drawing may not initially be able to do, after all. I like Andy even more now!

And you're welcome~

I'm really liking the color in this! It looks very natural and dimensional, and that dark frame with the gold accents has a very classic feel. Also, for some reason I love that highlight around the crown of his head, it gives a great sense of roundness to the whole thing.

I'm really liking these Imperial Circle guys!

Figures that if I were to shade something right it would be the hair! Yay!

I love to share my cast of characters! There are so many of them I will never have time to get to them all, though. Oh well.

P.S. Arnou should be done by the end of the day or early Monday evening!

They all dress the same because they are all on the same team. It's kind of a uniform.
John is their teacher, when he's around, and his is all black with platinum rings where theirs are gold.
Thanks very much for the fave!

Like his jawline and his strong but also a little reserved pose. The facts about him are fun, too, especially the mix between tradition and the modern. Are you going for the smooth blended colouring approach? I like how you've kept shadows in fairly strongly, rather than blending them out.

I am still experimenting with color for now. I think this is one of my favorites so far. Just trying out different styles as I see them. But this one may stick for a while.

Strong and reserved are two good words for Andy. I love Native American culture but wanted to have a character who could bring some of it into a modern age so people could appreciate it more.
