Reg Lahey: I think I'll always be embarrassed about the way I acted around Lindsey at first. It's one of those dumb moments where I got all caught up in titles and roles and the bullcrap I was taught as a kid. I was dazzled by money and title and stuttered and looked at my feet like ... well, like a dumbass. Lucky for me he's a really nice guy and seemed to be used to it. "Reg," he said. "The honor is mine. I don't meet rock stars every day, you know." In all honesty I'd never thought of it that way. So yes, it was a staggering start that did not remain awkward for long. At one point, he declared that what the backstage lounge area was missing was a cotton candy machine ... so he bought us one ... and we all abused it, covering things in fluffy sugar that ought not to be. And for the record, it was not me who covered his glasses, it was India (see? I *told* you I'd tell!). *I* did his phone ... after he made a giant poof-ball of it on top of my hat and put it on me. *ahem* He ended up with a hairpiece of it ... which Ellie sampled with all the calm and cool of a woman doing no more than opening a magazine. Needless to say, the sanctity of sugar was violated that night. After that, I will never see him as a stuffy lord/barrister ever again.

Matt Vitae: If I was English and infinitely more tolerant of others ... I think I'd actually be a little like Lindsey ... at least that is what I imagine. Of course, that means little ... unless you are talking about the techniques of costuming and color matching. He's almost as white as I am, which can present some problems when it comes to color. Real darks like reds, purples and blues can wash us out, while whites and other very light colors just make us look like we're trying to make a fashion statement; which is fine for me, because I am. But not so much for him. Lucky for me, I had a few places to start. I knew he was going to be one of the angels and that he was blonde rather than white like me. It gave me a whole span of browns, tans and off-whites to use. The temptation was to put him in some huge frock-coat, but restrained myself. And, of all people, it was Avi who gave me a few pointers on making something angelic, suggesting that a big cape of feathers and partial armor would be more authentic than white drapery and wings. Well, I've never met an angel, so I decided to take his word for it. I will be making a white version of it for myself when this is over. Lindsey lent to it a certain dignity and sobriety that none of us could have. There is always the danger of complicated costumes that the costume will wear the person, but in this case I was very pleased to see that Lindsey wore it and gave it a different look than anyone else could have. This, for a designer, is what makes the hard work worth it. I was thrilled to have met him. Together, we were quite possibly, the whitest guys ever. Oh, in case you were wondering? There are over two thousand feathers on that cape.
